Oktoberfest is an annual festival held in Munich, Germany over a 2 week period ending the 1st Sunday in October.
The festival originated in October of 1810 to celebrate the marriage of a German Prince and Princess. The festival has grown over the years to include parades with beer wagons and floats along with people in folk costumes. Other entertainment includes games, amusement rides, music and dancing.
A lot of US cities hold Oktoberfest activities to model the celebrations in Germany. And luckily for me, Washington, DC is one of those cities!
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the Oktoberfest activities at the DC wharf last weekend! Besides German cars, I also love German doggies of the dachshund variety! And German Actor Eric Braeden (Victor Newman on the Young & The Restless). 😁
My baby dog Cooper participated in the Weiner 500 dash! He didn’t win, but he made lots of new friends!
Find an Oktoberfest event near you and have a blast like I did! Yay!
