MD Espionage Charges For Nuclear Data Hidden in A Peanut Butter Sandwich

An Annapolis, MD couple was arrested last weekend on espionage related charges.

The duo (Mr. & Mrs. Toebbe) attempted to sell restricted government data to an undercover FBI agent. The info contained details on the design of nuclear powered warships.

Allegedly, Mr. Toebbe sent a foreign government a sample of the restricted data and instructions on how to covertly buy more info. The undercover agent and Mr. Toebbe communicated through encrypted emails for several months.

In June, the couple went to West Virginia to drop an encrypted SD card hidden in half a peanut butter sandwich for $20,000 in cryptocurrency.

Then, in August, Mr. Toebbe placed another SD card in a chewing gum package in “eastern” Virginia for $70,000 in cryptocurrency.

The couple was arrested in West Virginia last weekend.

Good grief!
