Per the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) site, the rise in COVID cases in December led to a return to virtual learning for students. In person learning is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, January 18th, following the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Students in grades K-6 in the Virtual Learning Program will return to in-classroom learning on January 31st.

According to an NBC Washington article from December, Governor Larry Hogan disagreed with the counties decision to return to virtual learning for the following reasons:
- only 100 cases of COVID out of 131,000 students (this number is probably higher by now);
- safety protocols for in-classroom learning are in place; and
- fewer parents are working from home now.

I wonder if the virtual learning period for PG County students will be extended? Hmmm…
