BLVCK Cow Restaurant- Bowie, MD- “The Conflict”

And yes, the “v” in Blvck Cow is not a typo. Perhaps this is where the incongruence with the restaurant begins. Lol!

Location: 6133 Highbridge Road; Bowie, MD. 20720

Website:

https://www.blvckcow.com/

In Short:

The food is rather tasty, but the atmosphere does not match the hype on the website or the expectation you have after stepping on their red carpet outside and being greeted by their doorman. The strip mall location didn’t really bother me, but the decor was disappointing considering the prices on the menu. I do believe the food is worth the price though.

The restaurant currently holds a 3.5 star yelp review with many interesting comments!

The Whole Shebang:

My husband and I dined at BLVCK COW on Saturday, September 17, with a 7:45 pm reservation.  Beef is highlighted at this restaurant, but there is also seafood, chicken, pasta, salads and more on the menu.

When my husband and I dined there last month, reservations were required. I’m not sure if this is still the case. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately by a friendly hostess.

Once seated, I asked our waitress to explain the reason for the “v” in BLVCK COW. She said she wasn’t quite sure, but offered that it may be an effort by the owners to be fancy or different. Hmmm….

For appetizers, we had the chipotle beef empanadas and the flatbread pizza (without the clam’s). Both were very tasty.

For our entrees, we ordered the BLVCK COW burger with fries and the 14oz New York strip steak with spinach and mashed potatoes. Both were very good and quite flavorful. My husband ordered his steak “medium” and it came to him cooked more like “medium-well” or “well-done”, but he still enjoyed it.

The side items were really good too!

For dessert, we ordered the peach croissant bread pudding. It was light and not too sweet. (Sorry, I forgot to take a photo)

The exterior of the restaurant has tinted windows and a red carpet with a doorman that raise your expectations of what’s inside.

I must say that we were disappointed that the decor and ambience of the restaurant did not measure up to the hype on the website or the prices on the menu.

The restaurants’ website requests that all patrons adhere to the dress code to match the design and sophistication of the establishment. However, the flooring, seating, and lighting do not really support an upscale experience. As the restaurant is still new, I’m hoping for some improvements in this area.

But check them out! Your belly will be satisfied!
